I'm an Associate Professor of Surgery and also a consultant thoracic surgeon. I operate mainly on lungs and other diseases of the chest. One of the reasons I love Mayo is the culture. We work together as a team. It's not about one person. It's about the team taking care of the patients and the need of the patients, which comes first. That is not just something, not just a cliche, but it's something that we really live out at Mayo. It doesn't matter what level or what kind of work you do, I see that every day when I come to work and it inspires me. And I love that. I also love the fact that I have people around me that I can ask for help anytime of the day or night and I know that I will receive that help. The greatest satisfaction I have is when I see somebody come back knowing that they had been healed, whether they've had a good outcome or the problem's been taken care of. Nothing can replace that in terms of satisfaction. So I love what I do. I would come here every day for as long as I can, if I can keep doing the same thing, which is taking care of patients.
