Biographical summary
Glenn G. Shi M.D., is an Assistant Professor and Consultant in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Florida. Dr. Shi specializes in Foot and Ankle Surgery and peripheral nerve surgery about the knee. Additionally he has special interests in tendon repair, ankle sprain, cartilage restoration, peripheral nerve entrapment. He frequently treats disorders of the lower legs including fractures about the knee, tibia, ankle, and foot. Examples of procedures that Dr. Shi routinely performs include: total ankle replacement, ankle deformity reconstruction, toe arthritis, release of nerve entrapment about the knee.
He earned a bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. He completed his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Shi received his orthopedic surgery training at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, followed by a fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery Foot and Ankle at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
Dr. Shi has authored a number of scientific publications, contributed to a book publication, and was the recipient of the Research Accelerator for Clinicians Engaged in Research (RACER) Award specifically evaluating nerve-related sources of continued pain after total knee replacement.
