Dean Karahalios, M.D. is a neurosurgeon specializing in complex spinal surgery with more than two decades of experience as a clinician, educator, researcher, and physician leader. A graduate of Northwestern University, Dr. Karahalios earned bachelor's, master's, and medical degrees before completing a neurosurgical residency and fellowship in spinal surgery at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.

His clinical interests include complex spinal procedures, minimally invasive spinal surgery, spinal endoscopy, spinal oncology, and peripheral nerve surgery. His current research focuses on image-guided navigation and robotics, predictive analytics and outcomes, and the use of emerging imaging modalities in the diagnosis and treatment of isolated mechanical back pain.
