John B. Gebhart, M.D., M.S., is a fellowship trained Urogynecologist, specializing in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. He is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS). His clinical expertise includes surgical treatment of:

  • Dysfunctional/abnormal uterine bleeding — minimally invasive hysterectomy
  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) — uterine and vault prolapse, cystocele, rectocele
  • Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) — synthetic slings, urethral bulking, Burch urethropexy
  • Refractory Overactive Bladder (rOAB) — Botox injection
  • Fistula — bladder, ureter, bowel
  • Congenital anomalies of the reproductive tract
  • Constricted or obliterated vagina
  • Urethral diverticulum
  • Mesh and other surgical complications

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Gebhart is active in research and education. He is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, having authored over 100 peer reviewed publications, book chapters, etc. He previously served as Fellowship Program Director in FPMRS at Mayo Clinic for 14 years. His research interests include: surgical algorithms, ergonomics of surgery, and surgical outcomes.
