J. Wells Askew, M.D., is a board-certified cardiologist with subspecialty certifications in cardiovascular imaging including nuclear cardiology and echocardiography. He attended University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine and obtained specialty training in internal medicine, cardiology, and advance cardiac imaging at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona, and in Rochester, Minnesota.
Areas of clinical expertise include:
- Management of patients with ischemic heart disease
- Evaluation and treatment of acute and chronic ischemic heart disease
- Cardiac imaging selection and interpretation for coronary artery disease assessment
- Application of nuclear imaging in patients with ischemic heart disease, cardiac amyloidosis, and cardiac sarcoidosis
Dr. Askew has led a number of initiatives at Mayo Clinic, where he served as Vice-Chair and later as Chair of Mayo Clinic Radiation Safety Committee, Medical Director of the Integrated Stress Center, Medical Director of Mayo Clinic Hospital Unit East Tower 5, and Co-Chair of the Ischemic Heart Disease Council.
