Biographical summary
Erin Alexander, D.O. is a pediatric gastroenterologist with a special interest in nutrition. She works with a multidisciplinary team who provides nutritional support for children and adolescents in the Mayo Clinic Children's Hospital and Mayo Clinic. Her clinical focus includes:
- Malnutrition, intestinal malabsorption and poor weight gain
- Expertise in managing patients with short bowel syndrome and intestinal failure
- Diagnosis and management of mucosal intestinal disease
- Performing endoscopy, which includes esophagogastroduodenoscopy and colonoscopy.
In addition to her clinic activities, Dr. Alexander is involved in several educational and research activities. Her research interests include: nutrition provision in ICU settings and disordered eating. She provides educational talks and mentorship to fellows, residents and medical students.
