Biographical summary
Dr. Lisa A. Boardman, M.D. is a gastroenterologist and Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She specializes in the care of patients with gastrointestinal malignancies, hereditary cancer and polyposis syndromes, and pre-cancer of the GI tract including colorectal polyps. Dr. Boardman is widely recognized for her research into the genetic underpinnings of cancer development. Dr. Boardman's research bridges the gap between laboratory discovery and clinical care. Backed by multi-year grants from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), her team focuses on the molecular genetic pathways that drive polyp-to-cancer progression. She is particularly recognized for her pioneering work in early-onset colorectal cancer, where she investigates the role of aging biomarkers, such as telomeres, to better understand why younger individuals develop gastrointestinal cancers.
