Tomohiko Yamada, O.D., is an optometrist and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Mayo Clinic School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. Since joining the faculty in 2008, he has been dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based medical eye care tailored to the unique needs of each patient, from young children to adults.
Dr. Yamada’s clinical expertise includes:
- Pediatric Care & Amblyopia: Specialized eye examinations for toddlers and children for treating "lazy eye" (amblyopia) and crossed eyes (strabismus).
- Myopia Control: A proactive approach to slow the progression of near-sightedness in children using the latest diagnostic and therapeutic options.
- Glaucoma Service: Comprehensive care for all stages of glaucoma, including medical therapies and long-term follow-up after complex eye surgeries.
- Complex Vision Needs: Providing customized optical solutions for patients with double vision (diplopia) and challenging refractive errors.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Yamada is committed to advancing pediatric eye care through research.
