Get to know me and my work at Mayo Clinic.

My name is Alan Bryce. I'm a medical oncologist and cancer researcher.

I think we all know that the burden of suffering from cancer is far too high. And that's why I'm committed to solving that and reducing that burden.

The best part of my day is clearly interacting with my patients. The relationship with a cancer patient can obviously be very difficult at times, so we do have to have a sense of hope and optimism. And I think the patients feel that as well. I think the patients lift us up with their courage, with their strength.

When a patient comes to me, my only commitment is to do what is best for that individual. And thinking only about what do we need to do to give this patient the best chance, and the best outcome.
