Biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch (BPD/DS) is considered to be the most complex weight-loss surgery, with the most risk for complications. Mayo Clinic surgeons have extensive experience with this type of weight-loss procedure, with all three Mayo Clinic locations performing more than 100 BPD/DS surgeries each year.
Complex cases
Mayo Clinic specializes in repairing problems resulting from previous weight-loss surgery, and performing weight-loss surgery in patients with complicated medical histories who may not qualify for surgery at other institutions.
