Support and resources

To help international patients access our world-class care, Mayo Clinic provides support services at no charge. The services are tailored to each traveler and family. Our goal is to anticipate your needs, so your care experience is as seamless and efficient as possible.

International appointment representatives. Mayo Clinic has international representatives around the world. Many live in the countries where they serve and speak the local language. You can reach out to a team member, free of charge, to ask questions. Representatives take the time necessary to understand your needs, explain locations and specialties, and tailor a travel plan based on your requirements.

Government liaison. If your care is sponsored by a government, your international patient team works with the designated governmental entity for your care plan approval. Note that we do not request sponsorship for patients.
International Center access. Your first appointment at Mayo Clinic is with an international team member, who orients you and your family to Mayo Clinic and answers your questions. The International Center team is available throughout your stay and can help you find the services you need. The International Center also is a place you and your family can rest between appointments.

Language and interpreter services. We can provide access to experienced interpreters who speak more than 200 languages. The interpreters can attend appointments and offer other assistance as needed. If an in-person interpreter who speaks your preferred language is not available, one may be available by video or phone.

Appointment coordination. Sometimes your healthcare professional may order additional procedures to assess or treat your condition, or you may need to see additional specialists. Your patient coordinator can help manage the appointment process, so you receive the care you need, when you need it.

Concierge services. During your stay, concierge services can provide recommendations to you and your family for lodging, transportation options, medical resources, mobile phone providers, and activities and entertainment options at Mayo Clinic and in the surrounding area.

Spiritual and religious services. Spiritual Care at Mayo Clinic supports spiritual well-being for healing and growth. People of all beliefs, faiths, cultures, values and religious practices are welcome at Mayo Clinic worship and meditation spaces.

Visa extensions. If your diagnosis or treatment takes longer than expected, your international team can provide the medical documentation necessary to extend your visa.

Patient education. If you have questions about any aspect of your care or treatment plan, your international team can connect you with healthcare professionals to get the answers you need.

Medical letters. Your international team can provide a medical letter that summarizes your diagnosis and care plan.

Medical equipment services. Your team can help you find the medical equipment you may need outside of the clinic. This may include walkers, nebulizers, monitors, pumps and more.
Financial services. International Financial Services representatives are available before you arrive and throughout your stay. They can assist you with cost estimates, billing, insurance options and payments.

Medical records. Your international team can help you upload your local medical information to Mayo Clinic and access medical records generated here.

Notary public. A notary public's seal is often necessary when signing official documents. Your team makes this task easy.
Patient Portal. Your team can help you create a Mayo Clinic Patient Portal account. The patient portal is a free, secure and convenient online resource that connects you to your healthcare team and helps you manage your health. It allows you to communicate directly with your care team, access all your records and tests results, fill prescriptions at a Mayo Clinic pharmacy, and make payments.

Mayo Clinic app. You may receive help setting up the Mayo Clinic app, which provides secure access to personal health information and guidance navigating Mayo Clinic.
