Biographical summary
Michelle N. Stram, M.D., ScM, is a Senior Associate Consultant in the Division of Anatomic Pathology, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Stram joined Mayo Clinic staff in 2025 and is board certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP), Forensic Pathology (FP), Clinical Informatics (CI), and Molecular Genetic Pathology (MGP).
Dr. Stram earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry, English, and Philosophy from the State University of New York at Binghamton, followed by a Master of Science (ScM) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University. She completed residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), followed by fellowship training in forensic pathology and forensic neuro/cardiovascular pathology at the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner, and molecular genetic pathology at Mayo Clinic Rochester.
Prior to joining Mayo Clinic, Dr. Stram served as a Senior City Medical Examiner at the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner and as a Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU School of Medicine. Her clinical and academic interests include molecular genetic pathology, forensic pathology, molecular autopsy, genotype–phenotype correlations in sudden death, and the development and implementation of informatics tools in pathology practice.
