Jansen N. Seheult, M.B., B.Ch., B.A.O., M.Sc., M.S., M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, specializing in Hematopathology and Computational Pathology and Informatics. Dr. Seheult joined Mayo Clinic staff in 2021 and serves as Medical Director of Digital Pathology and Artificial Intelligence in Hematopathology.

Dr. Seheult earned his M.B., B.Ch., B.A.O. from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, his M.Sc. in Clinical Chemistry from Trinity College Dublin, and his Doctor in Medicine (M.D.) research degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He completed residency training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), serving as chief resident in clinical pathology, followed by fellowship training in blood banking/transfusion medicine at UPMC and special coagulation at Mayo Clinic. He also holds an M.S. in Analytical Chemistry from the Illinois Institute of Technology and board certification in Clinical Informatics.

His clinical practice includes laboratory diagnosis of bleeding and thrombosing disorders, as well as inherited red cell diseases. He also leads a research and development laboratory focused on developing and implementing AI-powered diagnostic workflows for blood cancers. His group has successfully deployed artificial intelligence approaches for quantifying measurable residual disease using flow cytometric immunophenotyping, and is currently working on multimodal foundation models for improving diagnosis and management of blood cancers.
