Biographical summary
John C. Roeske, Ph.D., is a board-certified medical physicist with extensive clinical, academic, and research expertise in radiation oncology, advanced imaging, and computational modeling. Dr. Roeske’s clinical and research interests span multiple domains in medical physics, with particular emphasis on real-time image guidance and adaptive radiotherapy. His group has developed innovative techniques for markerless tumor tracking (MTT), integrating dual-energy imaging inradiation therapy, physics-based modeling, and artificial intelligence to improve the precision and robustness of tumor localization during treatment. He is an NIH-funded investigator, with projects focused on developing clinical translation pathways for these technologies. In addition to his clinical and research leadership, Dr. Roeske has been a dedicated educator and mentor. He has mentored PhD students and post-doctoral fellows across disciplines and fosters collaborations that bridge physics, engineering, computer science, and clinical radiation oncology. Dr. Roeske is a Fellow of the AAPM, where he has held multiple leadership positions, including service on scientific and professional committees. His contributions to AAPM reflect his longstanding commitment to advancing the field of medical physics and radiation oncology, both scientifically and professionally. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles and proceedings and is the co-editor of two textbooks.
