Francesco Ria, Doctor of Medical Physics, is a board-certified medical physicist with expertise in diagnostic imaging physics, computed tomography (CT), and quantitative imaging science.

Dr. Ria received his graduate training in Nuclear and Subnuclear Physics from the University of Salento and earned his Doctorate in Medical Physics from the University of Milan, Italy. He also completed a CAMPEP-accredited mentorship program in diagnostic medical imaging and advanced research training in imaging physics at Duke University, where he served as Assistant Professor of Radiology and investigator within the Center for Virtual Imaging Trials (CVIT), RAI Labs, and the Clinical Imaging Physics Group (CIPG).

In his clinical practice, Dr. Ria provides physics support for diagnostic imaging services, with a particular focus on CT optimization, image quality assessment, and radiation safety. His research focuses on improving imaging performance and patient outcomes through quantitative approaches that integrate image quality, diagnostic performance, and radiation exposure to support evidence-based imaging decisions.
