Biographical summary
Gina Kim, M.D., is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in laparoscopic and robotic surgery with a special focus on management of complex abdominal wall hernias.
Dr. Kim attended medical school at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, VA. She completed training in general surgery at the Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY where she was
recognized for her leadership skills and served as an administrative chief resident during her final year of residency. Dr. Kim spent an additional two years at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine researching disparities in patient outcomes funded by the NIH T32 research grant leading to several peer-reviewed publications.
Following her general surgery training, she went on to complete a one-year clinical fellowship in minimally invasive surgery with a focus on abdominal wall reconstruction and hernia surgeries at University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Kim’s clinical and research interests include patient-reported outcomes, patient experience, health care disparities and access to care, as well as safe implementation of novel techniques in robotic hernia repair.
