Deborah A. Baumgarten, M.D., M.P.H. is a diagnostic radiologist, with specialty interest in abdominal imaging. Her clinical focus includes:

  • Expertise in ultrasound and computed tomography of a variety benign and malignant genitourinary and gastrointestinal conditions (for example, initial work-up of liver, pancreatic, renal, adrenal, uterine, ovarian, prostate and testicular masses as well as staging and following known cancer; work-up of abdominal pain; renal stone disease; inflammatory bowel disease)
  • Ultrasound of focal and diffuse thyroid disease and the postoperative neck as well as various vascular conditions (for example, deep venous thrombosis)
  • Fluoroscopic studies (for example, barium swallow, upper GI, barium enema, leak checks, cystography, defecography)
  • Plain films of the chest and abdomen

In addition to her clinical activities, Dr. Baumgarten is active in service and education, providing mentorship to residents, fellows and junior faculty. She is active in a number of national radiology societies and reviews for the leading radiology journals. In her spare time, she is an avid exerciser, baker, reader and volunteer.
