بالإضافة إلى اختراع تقنية لتشخيص التشمع بدقة، طور الباحثون في مايو كلينك درجة نموذج المرحلة النهائية لمرض الكبد. يُستخدم نظام نموذج المرحلة النهائية لمرض الكبد الآن في كل أنحاء البلاد من أجل تقييم تقدّم المرض لدى المصابين به وتحديد الأعضاء التي ستُزرع.

يشارك الباحثون في مركز أبحاث زراعة الأعضاء في دراسة إجراءات طبية جراحية محسَّنة، وتطوير أدوية وعلاجات وتقنيات جديدة مقاومة لرفض الجسم للعضو المزروع بهدف جعل عمليات الزراعة أكثر أمانًا ومتاحة لعدد أكبر من الأشخاص. يطور العلماء والأطباء والجرَّاحون في مايو كلينك أفكارًا وابتكارات بشأن زراعة الكبد تجعل عمليات زراعة الكبد أكثر أمانًا ومتاحة لعدد أكبر من الأشخاص. كما يشاركون بنشاط في إجراء الدراسات المختبرية والتجارب السريرية والبحوث الأخرى عن كل جانب من جوانب الحالات المتعلقة بعمليات زراعة الكبد.
