A Study to Evaluate Wellness Coaching for Caregivers of Thoracic Transplant Candidates Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of a health coaching intervention on the stress and burden of caregivers of patients awaiting heart or lung transplant. Hypotheses: Caregivers will have traits and behaviors pre-transplant that will predict caregiver readiness, quality of life, and transplant recipient outcomes. Specifically, thoracic pre-transplant caregivers report stress, symptoms of anxiety or depression, and perceive high caregiver burden. These factors may be amenable to pre-transplant intervention to improve overall patient and caregiver outcomes. Aims, purpose, or objectives: We will conduct a pilot trial to test whether caregivers of heart and lung transplant candidates who receive wellness coaching will experience improvement in caregiver-related distress. We will also explore the relationship between caregiving and factors such as uncertainty, resilience, stress level, and affect. Surveillance HeartCare® Outcomes Registry Rochester, Minn., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz., Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to assess the clinical utility of surveillance using HeartCare testing services, in association with clinical care of heart transplant recipients. A Study to Evaluate Alloantibody Titer in Highly Sensitized Kidney Transplant Candidates Jacksonville, Fla., Rochester, Minn., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the utility of using anti-HLA antibody titer to measure the effectiveness of antibody lowering therapy (i.e., desensitization) in highly-sensitized kidney transplant candidates. A Study to Evaluate Cancer Distress, Psychological Trauma, and Resiliency in Hospitalized Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Patients Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to better understand the distress experience of hospitalized patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT), and to examine the relationship between cancer distress, psychological trauma, and resiliency over time. A Study to Analyze Fractures and Bone Disease in Living Kidney Donors Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to to determine whether or not prior living kidney donors have an increased risk of bone fractures. The study will also determine bone structure and health in prior living donors as compared to matched controls. We will determine if living kidney donors are at increased risk of bone disease and fractures following kidney donation. This information will be valuable in informing future kidney donors of the risks of donation and in devising treatments, such as administration of vitamin D analogs like calcitriol, to prevent such complications. Tissue and Blood Registry for Individuals with Liver and Biliary Tumors Jacksonville, Fla. This study will collect and store samples of tissue and blood for current and future research studies on Liver and Biliary Tumors. A Study to Evaluate Ultrasound Imaging in Renal Transplant Recipients Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of ultrasound elastography in prediction of renal allograft fibrosis. A Study to Evaluate Increasing Lung Transplant Availability Using Normothermic Ex Vivo Lung Perfusion (EVLP) at a Dedicated EVLP Facility Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Centralized Lung Evaluation System (CLES) in enabling evaluation of potential donor lungs not otherwise used for transplant into subjects with end stage, survival-limiting lung disease in need of lung transplantation. This will be accomplished by evaluating subject survival at the later of 6 months or hospital discharge post-transplant. A Study to Evaluate Immune and Hematopoietic Cell Assessment in Clonal B Cell Conditions Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the immune and hematopoietic compartments in patients with monoclonal B cell lymphocytosis (MBL) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in comparison to age-matched healthy control (HC) donors. A Study to Explore Ghrelin Levels with Primary Graft Dysfunction in Lung Transplant Recipients Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to investigate ghrelin, a peptide that mechanistically carries the promise of therapeutics benefit for diverse aspects of morbidity associated with lung transplantation.
