1. A Study to Evaluate Prevalence of Hypogonadism in Patients with Chronic Pain

   The purpose of this study is to evaluate the hormonal profile related to opioid-induced hypogonadism (OIH) in chronic pain patients before and after completing 3 weeks Interdisciplinary Pain Rehabilitation Program (IPRP) at Pain Rehabilitation Center (PRC) at Mayo Clinic/Florida.

2. Tobacco Dependence Intervention Knowledge, Practices, and Attitudes among Registered Nurses

   Rochester, Minn.

   The specific aim of this study is to determine if the implementation of a tobacco dependence intervention, among registered nurses on Gonda 7 caring for ambulatory surgical patients, results in a change in the knowledge, practices, and attitudes of patient tobacco use assessment as compared to baseline. 

3. A Study to Evaluate AAV8-human Cocaine Hydrolase to Treat Cocaine Use Disorder

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to see if an experimental agent, when given to subjects who wish to abstain from cocaine, will decrease their craving for cocaine and prevent them from relapsing and returning to cocaine use.  This experimental agent is called AAV8-hCocH; and it is a gene modified viral vector.  We want to determine the safety of its use in adults who have a cocaine use disorder in sustained remission.  

4. A Study to Evaluate Time to First Movement for Fetal Surgery Patients Injected with Intramuscular Anesthesia

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to determine the time from intramuscular injection to the time of first fetal movement after a fetal surgery procedure.

5. A Study of Serum Baclofen Levels in Patients with Intrathecal Baclofen Therapy

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to determine serum levels of baclofen in patients with spasticity managed with long-term intrathecal baclofen therapy. 

6. A Study to Assess Opioid-Induced Respiratory Depression Using Diaphragm Muscle Shear Wave Elastography

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of opioid administration on diaphragm muscle forces during resting breathing and during higher force maneuvers by using a non-invasive shear wave elastography (SWE) method.

7. Text Messaging Smoking Cessation Program in Surgical Patients

   Rochester, Minn.

   The goal of this study is to evaluate using a text messaging smoking cessation service in surgical patients during the perioperative period (before scheduled surgery and for 4 weeks post-operatively).

8. Response of Continuous Recombinant Antithrombin Infusion in Postcardiotomy ECMO Patients

   Rochester, Minn.

   The objective of this study will be to prospectively evaluate the response of a continuous infusion of recombinant human antithrombin concentrate (rhAT) (ATRYN®) to achieve and maintain the AT activity within a specified range in adult patients that require extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) following cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and cardiac surgery.

9. A Study to Assess Virtual Reality As Anesthesia Adjunct During Electrophysiology Lab Procedures

   The purpose of this study is to evaluate the use of virtual reality (VR) technology as adjunct to routine anesthesia care for patients undergoing electrophysiology (EP) procedures.

10. Analysis of Orthobiologic Agents (OBA) for Painful Musculoskeletal Conditions and Tissue Regeneration

    Jacksonville, Fla.

    The objectives of this study are to determine the effect of patient factors and manufacturing procedures on OBA product characteristics, to assess the clinical outcomes of patients affected by multiple painful musculoskeletal disorders and tissue regeneration needs that are treated with guided procedures in the Mayo Clinic Pain practice, to assess genetic and epigenetic factors associated to multiple painful musculoskeletal disorders and tissue regeneration needs, to determine the effect of OBA characteristics on patient outcomes for patients treated with OBA procedures, including a reference group of patients not receiving OBAs as part of their medical care.
