Biographical summary
Xiaojun Wu, M.D., Ph.D., is a board-certified anatomic and clinical pathologist and a subspecialty-certified hematopathologist in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. Her clinical practice spans both neoplastic and nonneoplastic hematology. She values open, timely communication with clinicians and enjoys working collaboratively to provide thoughtful, high-quality care for every patient.
Dr. Wu received her medical degree from Zhejiang Medical University in China and her Doctor of Philosophy in molecular and cellular pathology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She went on to complete an AP/CP residency and a hematopathology fellowship at UAB, followed by an additional fellowship in oncologic surgical pathology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Before joining Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, she practiced at NYU and GWU and, beginning in 2021, served as director of hematopathology services for Johns Hopkins in the National Capital Region.
Her research interests and collaborations span a broad range of hematolymphoid malignancies, with findings published in respected journals, including Cell Reports, Blood, and Modern Pathology. Dr. Wu is equally passionate about medical education and enjoys helping the next generation of physicians grow in their knowledge of hematopathology. Her courses have been well received by medical students, residents, and fellows at multiple institutions.
