Biographical summary
Richard Ten Hulzen, M.D., is a senior associate ophthalmologist at Mayo Clinic hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, and specializes in cataract and glaucoma surgery.
In 1995, Dr. Ten Hulzen received his medical degree from Mayo Medical School (now named Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine) in Rochester, Minnesota. He then completed his ophthalmology residency with a chief residency in the Mayo Clinic Department of Ophthalmology, followed by a glaucoma fellowship at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After fellowship, he joined and became partners with a group practice in Central Florida from 2000-2008. In 2009, he founded Beaches Eye Center in Jacksonville Beach and ran his private practice for nine years before joining Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Ten Hulzen is a native Nebraskan and he and his wife, who is from Jacksonville, have two sons, ages 16 and 18. He is trained in American Sign Language and Latin, and enjoys sports, gardening, travel, and coaching football and baseball.
