Audrey N. Schuetz, M.D., is a Pathologist and Clinical Microbiology with specialty expertise in bacterial antibiotic resistance, anaerobic bacteriology, and the pathology of infectious disease. Her clinical focus includes:

  • Examining histology and cytology preparations for evidence of infection.
  • Developing antibiotic resistance tests for aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.
  • Partnering with patient-facing providers to guide proper specimen collection and test ordering.

The clinical assays that are developed by Dr. Schuetz and her team are available to patients at Mayo Clinic and through Mayo Clinic Laboratories.

In addition to her clinical activities, Dr. Schuetz is active in international guidance development for antibiotic testing and reporting for bacteria and fungi. She authors expert content and publishes in high-impact scientific journals on the topics of clinical microbiology and the pathology of infectious diseases.
