Nawras Habash, M.B.B.S.

Nawras Waleed Ahmad Habash, M.B.B.S., is a pediatric hepatologist and transplant hepatologist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he serves as Senior Associate Consultant in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. Dr. Habash cares for children with complex liver disorders and provides expertise in managing conditions before and after liver transplantation. He works closely with families to deliver evidence-based care with clear communication and shared decision-making.

Research and expertise

Dr. Habash’s research focuses on improving transplant outcomes and advancing care for children with liver disease. His work includes studying Fontan-associated liver disease in patients with congenital heart conditions, immune protection from hepatitis B vaccination in children with gastrointestinal and liver disorders, and outcomes of combined organ transplantation such as liver-kidney procedures. He has published extensively, presented internationally, and received recognition from organizations including the International Pediatric Transplant Association and the American Society of Transplantation.

Board certified in pediatric gastroenterology, Dr. Habash completed his residency at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital, followed by fellowship training in pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology at Mayo Clinic and advanced transplant hepatology training at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
