Mark J Spangehl, M.D. is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a sub-specialty interest in adult hip and knee reconstruction. His clinical practice focuses on:

  • Hip replacement, including muscle sparing direct anterior approach
  • Knee replacement - both partial and total knee replacements
  • Revision (re-do) hip and knee replacement

In addition to his clinical activities, his research interests include optimizing post-operative pain management after joint replacement surgery, as well as the prevention, diagnosis and management of hip and knee infections in artificial joints.

He is also the Program Director of the Orthopaedic Residency Program at Mayo Clinic in Arizona and is actively involved in resident and fellow education.

Additionally, Dr Spangehl is engaged numerous National Orthopaedic Associations and publishes in, and reviews manuscripts for multiple high impact orthopaedic journals.
