Maheen Abidi, M.D., is a board-certified infectious disease specialist at Mayo Clinic Arizona, with a clinical focus in transplant infectious diseases and research expertise in how cytomegalovirus and other infections contribute to frailty and aging syndromes in older solid organ transplant recipients.

Dr. Abidi earned her medical degree from Dow University of Health Sciences in Karachi, Pakistan, followed by internal medicine residency at Michael Reese Hospital/University of Illinois. She completed fellowships in infectious diseases at the University of Rochester, geriatric medicine at Oregon Health & Science University, and transplant infectious diseases at Mayo Clinic Rochester. In 2025, Dr. Abidi completed the Program for Leadership Development (PLD) at Harvard Business School (HBS), an HBS alternative to an Executive MBA.

Dr. Abidi currently serves as a member-at-large on the Disease Transmission Advisory Committee of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN-DTAC) for the 2023–2027 term. She is an active member of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID), including its Study Group on Infections in the Elderly (ESGIE). Her prior leadership roles include executive committee service with the American Society of Transplant Infectious Diseases Community of Practice (AST-IDCOP) and the Transplant Infectious Disease-Special Interest Group of the American Society of Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (ASTCT).
