I am a transplant patient. What should I do to protect myself from COVID-19?
Because end-stage organ disease and immunosuppression post-transplant weakens the body’s immune system, pre- and post-transplant patients are among those at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19. To protect yourself from COVID-19, follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations for people who need to take extra precautions.
Should I wear a face mask?
Mayo Clinic now requires all patients, visitors and staff to wear a face covering or mask while at Mayo Clinic. See the CDC’s information on the use of cloth face coverings to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
In addition, please continue to follow the CDC’s recommendations for people at high risk of COVID-19.
