Sorafenib Tosylate and Hypoxia-Activated Prodrug TH-302 in Treating Patients With Advanced Kidney Cancer or Liver Cancer That Cannot Be Removed By Surgery Rochester, Minn., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz., Jacksonville, Fla. RATIONALE: Sorafenib tosylate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as hypoxia-activated prodrug TH-302, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving sorafenib tosylate together with hypoxia-activated prodrug TH-302 may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial studies the side effects and best dose of giving sorafenib tosylate together with hypoxia-activated prodrug TH-302 and to see how well they work in treating patients with advanced kidney cancer or liver cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. A Study of the Effect of Liraglutide on Weight Loss and Stomach Functions in Obesity Rochester, Minn. Obesity is associated with differences in stomach function, feeling of fullness after meals, and total calories consumed at a buffet meal. Based upon previous research, our study hypothesis is that weight loss with pharmacological agents may be individualized, based on the abnormality in those gastrointestinal functions. These studies will provide support for the principle that specific obesity medications should be selected according to individual characteristics, and it is anticipated that this approach will enhance the effectiveness of medication treatment of obesity. A Study of Circulating Nucleic Acid Tumor Markers Found in Different Components of Blood Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to assess for the circulating nucleic acid tumor markers dispersed in the various components of blood samples from patients with proven cancer. Celiac Disease Registry Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to develop a resource (bank) of biospecimens (blood, tissue, stool) and data collected from individuals with known or suspected gluten enteropathy, including celiac disease (CD) and dermatitis herpetiformis (DH). Other enteropathies will also be included: collagenous sprue, idiopathic sprue, lymphocytic enterocolitis, idiopathic enteropathies, collagenous gastritis, Whipple’s disease, and other miscellaneous inflammatory disorders of the small intestine. This resource will be invaluable in answering the important questions outlined above and other future unanswered questions. A Study of Colesevelam in Fecal Incontinence Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of a combination of colesevelam and clonidine to a placebo on bowel symptoms in patients with urge or combined type fecal incontinence. A Study to Measure Blood Vessel Health in Non-Pregnant Women Rochester, Minn. This study will allow us to determine normal values for the health of this gel-like layer in non-pregnant women. We will also determine whether values vary from day to day, in the same person. Normal responses from this study will be compared with data obtained in other studies (for example, studies of women who had the pregnancy complication preeclampsia, or women who have other risk factors for heart disease). This will help us to determine whether the glycocalyx contributes to the risk of preeclampsia and heart disease in women with different risk factors. A Biobank for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders (FGID) Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to develop a resource (bank) of biospecimens and data collected from individuals with functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGID) to facilitate discovery and development of novel microbial biomarkers of disease and response to treatment, and novel targeted therapeutic strategies for FGID. A Study of the Donor Screening Experience and the Outcomes from Fecal Transplant in Patients with C. Difficile Infection Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz., Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to evaluate clinical experience with donor screening for fecal transplant, and to evaluate the outcomes from fecal transplant and understand risk factors for fecal transplant failure and relapse after fecal transplant. A Study to Evaluate the Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacokinetics and Exploratory Effectiveness of Nimacimab in Patients With Diabetic Gastroparesis Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and exploratory effectiveness of nimacimab in patients with diabetic gastroparesis. A Study to Determine the Microbial Population of the Intestines in Patients with Active or Treated Inactive Eosinophilic Esophagitis Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to collect stool samples and determine the intestine microbe environment in patients who have active or treated inactive eosinophilic esophagitis.
