Biographical summary
Dr. Wigdan H. Farah is a board-certified Pulmonary and Preventive Medicine physician, with special interests in airway diseases, occupational lung disease, and lung cancer prevention, among others. Before joining mayo clinic, she completed her medical training at Ahfad University for Women in Sudan, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System in Michigan. She then
pursued dual fellowships in Preventive Medicine and Pulmonary Diseases at Mayo Clinic, where she also earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Farah’s clinical and research work focuses on personalizing care for chronic lung diseases using phenotypic profiling and biomarkers, as well as developing programs grounded in implementation science to improve access to and effectiveness of lung cancer screening. Her research efforts have contributed to national efforts on infectious diseases, community-acquired pneumonia, and health disparities, helping to shape clinical guidelines and inform health policy to improve lung health.
Enthusiastic about patient-centered care and health equity, Dr. Farah partners with patients to create personalized management plans and applies real-world strategies to make evidence-based care more accessible and equitable.
