David Dingli, M.D., Ph.D., professor of medicine, obtained his medical degree from the University of Malta and a PhD in molecular biology from Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. He completed his residency and fellowship in internal medicine and hematology/oncology at Mayo Clinic, and also spent time as a visiting scientist at Harvard University, University of Lisbon, and Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology. He has board certifications and fellowships from several professional organizations, such as the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American College of Physicians, and the Royal College of Physicians.

Dr. Dingli has received numerous honors and awards for his research and teaching, such as the Donald C. Balfour Award for Meritorious Research, the Bellman Prize, and the J. W. Forrester Award. He has been involved in various educational activities, such as directing the Tutorial in Gene Therapy course, chairing the Hematology Quality Committee, and mentoring students and fellows. His research interests include tumor virotherapy, mathematical modeling of hematopoiesis and cancer, and stem cell transplantation. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and abstracts on topics related to hematology and oncology.
