Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. decrease in the frequency of urination
  4. decrease in urine volume
  5. difficult or burning urination
  6. difficulty in passing urine (dribbling)
  7. frequent urge to urinate
  8. lower back or side pain
  9. painful urination

Less common

  1. Chills
  2. cough
  3. diarrhea
  4. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  5. fever
  6. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  7. headache
  8. joint pain
  9. loss of appetite
  10. muscle aches and pains
  11. nausea
  12. runny nose
  13. shivering
  14. sore throat
  15. sweating
  16. trouble sleeping
  17. unusual tiredness or weakness
  18. vomiting

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. changes in vision
  3. clammy skin
  4. confusion as to time, place, or person
  5. dark-colored urine
  6. difficulty with swallowing
  7. dizziness
  8. enlarged pupils
  9. fainting
  10. fast or slow heartbeat
  11. hallucinations
  12. hives
  13. holding false beliefs that cannot be changed by fact
  14. increased sensitivity of the eyes to light
  15. increased sweating, possibly with fever or cold
  16. itching
  17. muscle cramps or spasms
  18. muscle stiffness
  19. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  20. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  21. red, irritated eyes
  22. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  23. severe chest pain
  24. severe headache
  25. shortness of breath
  26. skin rash
  27. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  28. stiff or sore neck
  29. tightness in the chest
  30. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness
  31. wheezing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Back pain
  2. blurred vision
  3. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  4. dry mouth
  5. dry skin
  6. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. bloated or full feeling
  4. dry eyes
  5. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  6. heartburn
  7. indigestion
  8. passing gas
  9. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  10. stuffy nose
  11. trouble with urinating
  12. unable to have a bowel movement (stool)
  13. upper stomach pain

Incidence not known

  1. Burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  2. change in taste
  3. dry throat
  4. indigestion
  5. loss of taste
  6. swelling of the abdomen or stomach area
  7. tenderness in the stomach area
