Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  2. tingling of the hands or feet
  3. unusual weight gain or loss

Less common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bloody urine
  3. blurred vision
  4. bone pain
  5. burning or stinging of the skin
  6. chest pain, discomfort, or tightness
  7. cough or hoarseness
  8. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  9. dilated neck veins
  10. dizziness
  11. fainting
  12. fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  13. fever or chills
  14. headache
  15. increased thirst
  16. irregular breathing
  17. loss of appetite
  18. lower back or side pain
  19. nausea
  20. nervousness
  21. painful cold sores or blisters on the lips, nose, eyes, or genitals
  22. pale skin
  23. pounding in the ears
  24. sore throat
  25. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  26. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  27. swollen glands
  28. troubled breathing
  29. unusual bleeding or bruising
  30. unusual tiredness or weakness
  31. vomiting

Rare

  1. Hives, itching, rash
  2. irritation
  3. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  4. neck tenderness or swelling
  5. redness of the skin
  6. troubled swallowing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Back pain
  2. change in taste
  3. cracked lips
  4. diarrhea
  5. difficulty in moving
  6. muscle aching or cramping
  7. muscle pain or stiffness

Less common

  1. Belching
  2. bladder pain
  3. blemishes on the skin
  4. bloody or cloudy urine
  5. body aches or pain
  6. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  7. clumsiness or unsteadiness
  8. constipation
  9. discoloration of the fingernails or toenails
  10. ear congestion
  11. feeling of warmth
  12. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  13. heartburn
  14. indigestion
  15. lack or loss of strength
  16. loss of voice
  17. muscle spasm
  18. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  19. peeling of the skin
  20. pimples
  21. redness of the face, neck, arms and occasionally, upper chest
  22. runny or stuffy nose
  23. shivering
  24. sneezing
  25. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  26. sweating
  27. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  28. trouble sleeping
  29. weakness in the hands or feet
