Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common or rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain (severe) or swelling
  2. back pain
  3. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin or lips or mucous membranes (moist lining of many body cavities, including the mouth, lips, inside of nose, anus, and vagina)
  4. blood in eyes
  5. bloody or black tarry stools
  6. bruising or purple areas on skin
  7. change in mental status
  8. convulsions (seizures)
  9. coughing up blood
  10. dark or bloody urine
  11. decreased alertness
  12. dizziness
  13. fever, chills, or sore throat
  14. headache (severe or continuing)
  15. joint pain or swelling
  16. nosebleeds
  17. pale color of skin
  18. paralysis or problems with coordination
  19. pinpoint red spots on skin
  20. red lesions on the skin, often with a purple center
  21. red, thickened, or scaly skin
  22. sores, ulcers, or white spots in mouth
  23. stammering or other difficulty in speaking
  24. unusually heavy bleeding or oozing from cuts or wounds
  25. unusual tiredness
  26. unusually heavy or unexpected menstrual bleeding
  27. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  28. weakness
  29. yellow eyes or skin

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Skin rash

Less common or rare

  1. General feeling of discomfort or illness
  2. hives or itching of skin
  3. ringing or buzzing in ears

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain (mild)
  2. diarrhea
  3. indigestion
  4. nausea

Less common

  1. Bloating or gas
  2. dizziness
  3. vomiting

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
