Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. blood in the urine or stools
  3. blurred vision
  4. chest pain
  5. chills
  6. confusion
  7. cough
  8. coughing up blood
  9. cracked lips
  10. decreased urine
  11. diarrhea
  12. difficulty in swallowing
  13. dizziness
  14. dry mouth
  15. fever
  16. flushed, dry skin
  17. fruit-like breath odor
  18. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  19. headache
  20. increased hunger
  21. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  22. increased thirst
  23. increased urination
  24. irritation or soreness of the mouth
  25. lightheadedness
  26. loss of appetite
  27. mood changes
  28. muscle pain or cramps
  29. nausea or vomiting
  30. nervousness
  31. nosebleeds
  32. numbness or tingling in hands, feet, or lips
  33. painful or difficult urination
  34. pale skin
  35. paralysis
  36. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  37. pounding in the ears
  38. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  39. red or dark brown urine
  40. red or black, tarry stools
  41. slow, fast, or irregular heartbeat
  42. sore throat
  43. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips, tongue, or inside the mouth
  44. stomach pain
  45. sunken eyes
  46. sweating
  47. swelling of the hands, ankles, feet, or lower legs
  48. thickening of bronchial secretions
  49. trouble breathing
  50. unexplained weight loss
  51. unusual bleeding or bruising
  52. unusual tiredness or weakness
  53. wrinkled skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bleeding after defecation
  2. burning, numbness, tingling, or painful sensations
  3. constipation
  4. discoloration of the fingernails or toenails
  5. dry skin
  6. loss or thinning of the hair
  7. muscle or bone pain
  8. trouble sleeping
  9. uncomfortable swelling around the anus
  10. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  11. weakness in arms, hands, legs, or feet
