Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  4. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  5. fever
  6. frequent urge to urinate
  7. headache
  8. indigestion
  9. loss of appetite
  10. lower back or side pain
  11. muscle aches
  12. nausea or vomiting
  13. passing of gas
  14. rectal bleeding
  15. sore throat
  16. stomach pain, cramps, fullness, discomfort, tenderness, or upset
  17. stuffy or runny nose
  18. unusual tiredness or weakness
  19. watery or bloody diarrhea

Less common

  1. Body aches or pain
  2. chills
  3. cough or hoarseness
  4. difficulty with breathing or swallowing
  5. dryness of the throat
  6. ear congestion
  7. hives or welts, itching, or skin rash
  8. loss of voice or voice changes
  9. painful cold sores or blisters on the lips
  10. redness, scaling of the skin
  11. sore mouth or tongue
  12. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  13. white patches in the mouth or on the tongue

Rare

  1. Severe diarrhea
  2. weight loss

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, reddening, peeling, or swelling of the skin
  2. chest tightness
  3. cracked, dry, scaly skin
  4. dizziness
  5. fast heartbeat
  6. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  7. skin feels like leather
  8. small bumps or patches

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
