Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Anxiety
  2. cough
  3. dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting
  4. eye or vision changes
  5. fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat
  6. pain in the chest, groin, or legs, especially the calves
  7. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  8. slurred speech
  9. sudden loss of coordination
  10. sudden, severe headache
  11. sudden, severe weakness or numbness in the arm or leg
  12. trouble breathing

Less common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. chills
  3. fever
  4. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  5. inability to speak
  6. seizures
  7. sneezing
  8. sore throat
  9. sudden, severe weakness on one side of the body
  10. temporary blindness
  11. thickening of bronchial secretions

Rare

  1. Chest pain or tightness
  2. eye redness, irritation, or pain
  3. headache
  4. swollen or painful glands
  5. unusual bleeding or bruising

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, loosening of the skin
  2. diarrhea
  3. itching
  4. joint or muscle pain
  5. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  6. sore throat
  7. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  8. unusual tiredness or weakness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Back pain
  2. changes in the fingernails or toenails, including brittleness, inflammation, pain, redness, tenderness, separation from nail bed, or shedding of the nails
  3. constipation
  4. decreased appetite
  5. nausea
  6. skin rash or dryness of the skin
  7. swelling or inflammation of the mouth

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
