Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Because of the way that muromonab-CD3 acts on the body, there is a chance that it may cause effects that may not occur until years after the medicine is used. These delayed effects may include certain types of cancer, such as lymphomas and skin cancers. Discuss these possible effects with your doctor.

Although not all of the following side effects may occur, if they do occur, they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Chest pain
  2. rapid or irregular heartbeat
  3. shortness of breath or wheezing
  4. swelling of face or throat

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. dizziness or faintness
  3. fever and chills
  4. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  5. headache
  6. muscle or joint pain
  7. nausea and vomiting

Less common or rare

  1. Confusion
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. blood in urine or stools
  4. convulsions (seizures)
  5. cough or hoarseness
  6. hallucinations (seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there)
  7. itching or tingling
  8. loss of hearing or vision
  9. lower back or side pain
  10. painful or difficult urination
  11. pinpoint red spots on skin
  12. skin rash
  13. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  14. stiff neck
  15. swollen or painful glands
  16. tightness in the chest
  17. trembling and shaking of hands
  18. troubled breathing
  19. unusual sensitivity of eyes to light
  20. unusual bleeding or bruising
  21. unusual tiredness
  22. weakness

After you stop using this medicine, it may still produce some side effects that need attention. During this period of time, check with your doctor immediately if you notice the following side effects:
