Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Changes in behavior
  2. discouragement
  3. feeling sad or empty
  4. irritability
  5. lack of appetite
  6. loss of interest or pleasure
  7. thoughts of killing oneself
  8. tiredness
  9. trouble concentrating
  10. trouble sleeping

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bluish-colored lips, fingernails, or palms
  4. blurred vision
  5. chest pain or tightness
  6. chills
  7. clay-colored stools
  8. confusion
  9. cough
  10. dark urine
  11. decreased urine output
  12. diarrhea
  13. dilated neck veins
  14. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  15. fast or slow heartbeat
  16. fever
  17. fluid-filled skin blisters
  18. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  19. headache
  20. hoarseness
  21. inability to move the eyes
  22. inability to sit still
  23. increased blinking or spasms of the eyelid
  24. increased need to urinate
  25. increased sweating
  26. irregular breathing
  27. itching, skin rash
  28. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  29. lip smacking or puckering
  30. loss of balance control
  31. loss of bladder control
  32. lower back or side pain
  33. mask-like face
  34. nausea
  35. need to keep moving
  36. nervousness
  37. noisy, rattling breathing
  38. overactive reflexes
  39. painful or difficult urination
  40. pale skin
  41. passing urine more often
  42. poor coordination
  43. pounding in the ears
  44. pounding, slow heartbeat
  45. puffing of the cheeks
  46. rapid or worm-like movements of the tongue
  47. restlessness
  48. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  49. seizures
  50. sensitivity of the skin to the sun
  51. severe muscle stiffness
  52. shivering
  53. shuffling walk
  54. slowed movements
  55. slurred speech
  56. sore throat
  57. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  58. sticking out of the tongue
  59. stomach pain or tenderness
  60. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  61. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  62. talking or acting with excitement you cannot control
  63. thinning of the skin
  64. tic-like (jerky) movements of the head, face, mouth, and neck
  65. trembling and shaking of the fingers and hands
  66. trouble in breathing, speaking, or swallowing
  67. trouble breathing at rest
  68. twitching
  69. uncontrolled chewing movements
  70. uncontrolled movements of the arms and legs
  71. uncontrolled twisting movements of the neck, trunk, arms, or legs
  72. unusual bleeding or bruising
  73. unusual facial expressions
  74. vomiting
  75. weight gain
  76. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Change in or loss of taste
  2. drowsiness
  3. loss of strength or energy
  4. muscle pain or weakness
  5. unusual weak feeling

Incidence not known

  1. Absent, missed, or irregular menstrual periods
  2. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  3. inability to have or keep an erection
  4. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  5. unexpected or excess milk flow from breasts
