Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. bloody vomit
  5. diarrhea
  6. increased heartbeat
  7. itching, rash, reddening of the skin
  8. joint pain
  9. nausea
  10. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  11. sores in the mouth or lips
  12. stomach pain
  13. swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, hands, feet, or lower legs
  14. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  15. trouble breathing
  16. unusual bleeding or bruising
  17. vomiting
  18. yellow eyes or skin

Less common

  1. Back pain
  2. bloody nose
  3. blurred vision
  4. body and muscle pain
  5. burning while urinating
  6. confusion
  7. continuing ringing, buzzing, or other unexplained noise in the ears
  8. cough or hoarseness
  9. cracked, dry, scaly skin
  10. dark urine
  11. dizziness
  12. drowsiness
  13. ear congestion
  14. fever or chills
  15. headache
  16. loss of appetite
  17. loss of hearing
  18. loss of voice
  19. lower back or side pain
  20. painful or difficult urination
  21. pale skin
  22. runny nose
  23. seizures
  24. sneezing
  25. sore throat
  26. stuffy or runny nose
  27. unusual tiredness or weakness
  28. weight loss
  29. white or brownish vaginal discharge

Incidence not known

  1. Anxiety
  2. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  3. bloating
  4. blurred or change in vision
  5. changes in skin color
  6. confusion
  7. constipation
  8. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  9. difficulty in moving
  10. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  11. dry mouth
  12. dryness or soreness of the throat
  13. eye pain
  14. fruit-like breath odor
  15. heartburn
  16. inability to have or keep an erection
  17. increased hunger or thirst
  18. indigestion
  19. irritation in the mouth
  20. large, flat, blue, or purplish patches in the skin
  21. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  22. loss of consciousness
  23. menstrual problem
  24. night blindness
  25. pain in the chest or groin
  26. pain, redness, swelling, or tenderness in the arm or leg
  27. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  28. red, wart-like spots on the skin
  29. sudden loss of coordination
  30. sudden onset of slurred speech
  31. swelling or soreness of the breasts
  32. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in the neck or armpit
  33. tingling or numbness in the hands, feet, or lips

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Hair loss or thinning

Less common

  1. Blemishes on the skin
  2. hard, red, swollen skin irritation
  3. pimples
