Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Chills
  2. confusion
  3. diarrhea
  4. dizziness
  5. fainting
  6. fast heartbeat
  7. fever
  8. lightheadedness
  9. pale skin
  10. rapid, shallow breathing
  11. rash
  12. trouble breathing
  13. unusual bleeding or bruising
  14. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. bluish lips or skin
  5. body aches or pain
  6. chest pain or tightness
  7. constipation
  8. cough
  9. decreased urine
  10. dry mouth
  11. dryness or soreness of the throat
  12. ear congestion
  13. headache
  14. hoarseness
  15. increased thirst
  16. irregular heartbeat
  17. loss of appetite
  18. loss of voice
  19. mood changes
  20. muscle pain or cramps
  21. nausea or vomiting
  22. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  23. painful or difficult urination
  24. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  25. runny or stuffy nose
  26. seizures
  27. severe stomach pain
  28. sneezing
  29. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  30. swollen glands
  31. trouble with swallowing
  32. voice changes
  33. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. blindness
  3. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  4. blurred vision
  5. burning, numbness, tingling, or painful sensations
  6. coma
  7. decreased vision
  8. depression
  9. eye pain
  10. general feeling of discomfort
  11. hives, itching
  12. hostility
  13. irritability
  14. joint pain
  15. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  16. lethargy
  17. muscle pain, cramping, or twitching
  18. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  19. rapid weight gain
  20. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  21. red, irritated eyes
  22. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  23. stomach discomfort
  24. stupor
  25. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  26. swollen glands
  27. unexplained bleeding or bruising
  28. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  29. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
  2. change in taste
  3. discoloration of the tongue
  4. itching of the vagina or outside genitals
  5. pain during sexual intercourse
  6. pain in the arms or legs
  7. sore mouth or tongue
  8. thick, white curd-like vaginal discharge without odor or with mild odor
  9. trouble sleeping

Incidence not known

  1. Discoloration of the tooth
