Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Dizziness
  2. shakiness and unsteady walk
  3. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  4. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  5. unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination

Less common

  1. Being forgetful
  2. bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
  3. discouragement
  4. feeling sad or empty
  5. irritability
  6. itching skin
  7. lack of appetite
  8. loss of balance control
  9. loss of interest or pleasure
  10. mood or mental changes
  11. tearing of the skin
  12. tiredness
  13. trouble concentrating
  14. trouble with sleeping
  15. trouble with walking

Rare

  1. Chest pain or discomfort
  2. flushing or redness of the skin
  3. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  4. slow or irregular heartbeat
  5. unusual tiredness
  6. unusually warm skin

Incidence not known

  1. Abnormal or decreased touch sensation
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  4. changes in patterns and rhythms of speech
  5. chills
  6. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  7. cough
  8. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  9. feeling drunk
  10. fever
  11. hearing loss
  12. lower back or side pain
  13. painful or difficult urination
  14. pale skin
  15. slurred speech
  16. sore throat
  17. trouble breathing
  18. trouble performing routine tasks
  19. trouble with balance
  20. trouble with speaking
  21. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  22. unusual bleeding or bruising

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. double vision
  3. headache
  4. nausea
  5. seeing double
  6. vomiting

Less common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  3. lack or loss of strength
  4. sensation of spinning
  5. uncontrolled eye movements

Incidence not known

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. blistering, peeling, loosening of the skin
  4. constipation
  5. difficulty having a bowel movement
  6. dry mouth
  7. heartburn
  8. increased sweating
  9. indigestion
  10. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  11. muscle spasms
  12. red irritated eyes
  13. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  14. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
