Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. blurred vision
  3. cloudy urine
  4. constipation
  5. coughing up blood
  6. depressed mood
  7. dizziness
  8. dry skin and hair
  9. feeling cold
  10. hair loss
  11. headache
  12. hoarseness or husky voice
  13. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  14. muscle cramps and stiffness
  15. nervousness
  16. nosebleeds
  17. paralysis
  18. pounding in the ears
  19. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  20. red or black, tarry stools
  21. red or dark brown urine
  22. redness, swelling, or pain of the skin
  23. scaling of the skin on the hands and feet
  24. slow or fast heartbeat
  25. tingling of the hands and feet
  26. trouble breathing
  27. ulceration of the skin
  28. unusual tiredness or weakness
  29. weight gain

Less common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. body aches or pain
  4. chest pain or tightness
  5. cough
  6. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  7. ear congestion
  8. fever or chills
  9. frequent urge to urinate
  10. heartburn
  11. indigestion
  12. lower back or side pain
  13. loss of voice
  14. severe stomach pain, cramping, or burning
  15. sneezing
  16. sore throat
  17. stuffy or runny nose
  18. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds

Rare

  1. Agitation
  2. back pain
  3. coma
  4. confusion
  5. drowsiness
  6. hallucinations
  7. irritability
  8. mood or mental changes
  9. seizures
  10. stiff neck
  11. sudden weakness in the arms or legs

Incidence not known

  1. Dark urine
  2. loss of appetite
  3. nausea or vomiting
  4. pains in the chest, groin, or legs, especially calves of the legs
  5. sudden loss of coordination
  6. sudden onset of slurred speech
  7. sudden vision changes
  8. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. difficulty in moving
  3. joint pain
  4. muscle or bone pain
  5. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  6. throat pain
  7. weight loss

Less common

  1. Pain in the rectum
