Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare

  1. Blood in the urine
  2. burning while urinating
  3. cough or hoarseness
  4. difficult or painful urination
  5. fever or chills
  6. lower back or side pain
  7. painful or difficult urination

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain or tenderness
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bloating
  4. chest pain
  5. clay-colored stools
  6. constipation
  7. dark urine
  8. diarrhea
  9. difficulty with swallowing
  10. dizziness
  11. fast heartbeat
  12. headache
  13. hives
  14. itching
  15. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  16. light-colored stools
  17. loss of appetite
  18. nausea or vomiting
  19. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  20. rash
  21. severe abdominal or stomach cramps and pain
  22. shortness of breath
  23. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  24. swollen or painful glands
  25. tightness in the chest
  26. unpleasant breath odor
  27. unusual bleeding or bruising
  28. unusual tiredness or weakness
  29. vomiting of blood
  30. watery and severe diarrhea, which may also be bloody
  31. wheezing
  32. worsening of asthma
  33. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Itching of the vagina or genital area
  2. pain during sexual intercourse
  3. thick, white vaginal discharge with no odor or with a mild odor

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. back pain
  3. belching
  4. body aches or pain
  5. congestion
  6. dryness or soreness of the throat
  7. heartburn
  8. heavy bleeding
  9. indigestion
  10. lack or loss of strength
  11. pain
  12. painful menstruation
  13. runny or stuffy nose
  14. skin rash
  15. sneezing
  16. sore throat
  17. stomach discomfort or upset
  18. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  19. trouble with swallowing
  20. voice changes
  21. weakness

Rare

  1. Abnormal stools
  2. absent missed or irregular menstrual periods
  3. blindness
  4. blue-yellow color blindness
  5. blurred vision
  6. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  7. decreased vision
  8. difficulty with moving
  9. dry mouth
  10. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  11. eye pain
  12. full feeling
  13. headache, severe and throbbing
  14. joint pain
  15. loss of appetite
  16. muscle aching or cramping
  17. muscle pains or stiffness
  18. nervousness
  19. passing gas
  20. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  21. sleeplessness
  22. stopping of menstrual bleeding
  23. swollen joints
  24. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in the neck, armpit, or groin
  25. trouble sleeping
  26. unable to sleep
  27. weight loss

Incidence not known

  1. Hearing loss
