Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Chills
  2. cold sweats
  3. confusion
  4. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from lying or sitting position

Less common

  1. Arm, back, or jaw pain
  2. bloody urine
  3. blurred vision
  4. burning, dry, or itching eyes
  5. chest pain, discomfort, tightness, or heaviness
  6. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise the in ears
  7. decreased amount of urine
  8. discharge, excessive tearing
  9. eye pain
  10. fainting
  11. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  12. hearing loss
  13. increased blood pressure
  14. increased thirst
  15. loss of appetite
  16. lower back or side pain
  17. nausea
  18. redness, pain, or swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining the of eyelid
  19. sweating
  20. swelling of the face, hands, fingers, ankles, feet, or lower legs
  21. trouble breathing
  22. unusual tiredness or weakness
  23. vomiting
  24. weight gain

Incidence not known

  1. Blindness
  2. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  3. change in vision
  4. clear or bloody discharge from nipple
  5. cough
  6. decreased vision
  7. dimpling of the breast skin
  8. fever
  9. hives, itching, skin rash
  10. inverted nipple
  11. irritation
  12. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  13. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  14. lump in the breast or under the arm
  15. painful or prolonged erection of the penis
  16. persistent crusting or scaling of the nipple
  17. red irritated eyes
  18. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  19. redness of the skin
  20. redness or swelling of the breast
  21. sore on the skin of the breast that does not heal
  22. sore throat
  23. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Change or problem with discharge of semen
  2. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  3. inability to have or keep an erection
  4. lack or loss of strength
  5. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. bleeding from the rectum or bloody stools
  4. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  5. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  6. difficulty in moving
  7. difficulty swallowing
  8. dry mouth
  9. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  10. headache
  11. heartburn
  12. indigestion
  13. muscle aches, cramps, pains, or stiffness
  14. pain in the arms or legs
  15. pain or burning in the throat
  16. sensation of spinning
  17. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  18. sneezing
  19. stomach upset
  20. stuffy or runny nose
  21. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  22. swollen joints

Rare

  1. Breast enlargement

Incidence not known

  1. Discouragement
  2. feeling sad or empty
  3. irritability
  4. lack of appetite
  5. loss of interest or pleasure
  6. tiredness
  7. trouble concentrating
