Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Breast pain, discomfort, or tenderness
  2. headache, severe and throbbing
  3. irregular menstrual periods
  4. nausea
  5. normal menstrual bleeding occurring earlier, possibly lasting longer than expected
  6. vomiting

Rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. chills
  3. clay-colored stools
  4. dark urine
  5. difficulty with breathing
  6. dizziness
  7. fever
  8. headache
  9. itching
  10. loss of appetite
  11. pain in the chest, groin, or legs, especially the calves
  12. rash
  13. slurred speech
  14. sudden loss of coordination
  15. sudden, severe weakness or numbness in the arm or leg
  16. sudden, unexplained shortness of breath
  17. unpleasant breath odor
  18. unusual tiredness or weakness
  19. vision changes
  20. vomiting of blood
  21. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach bloating
  2. anxiety
  3. blood in the stool
  4. chest pain or discomfort
  5. decrease in the amount of urine
  6. fainting
  7. hives
  8. irritation
  9. itching of the vagina or genitals
  10. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  11. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  12. noisy, rattling breathing
  13. pain in the ankles or knees
  14. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  15. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  16. painful, red lumps under the skin, mostly on the legs
  17. pelvic pain
  18. pounding in the ears
  19. redness of the skin
  20. shortness of breath
  21. slow or fast heartbeat
  22. stomach or pelvic discomfort, aching, or heaviness
  23. sweating
  24. swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, hands, lower legs, or feet
  25. thick, white vaginal discharge with mild or no odor
  26. tightness in the chest
  27. troubled breathing at rest
  28. troubled breathing or swallowing
  29. upper right abdominal or stomach pain
  30. weight gain
  31. wheezing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Blemishes on the skin
  2. increased weight
  3. pimples

Incidence not known

  1. Patchy brown or dark brown discoloration of the skin

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
