Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. blistering, peeling, redness, or swelling of the palms of the hands or bottoms of the feet
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. chills
  5. cough or hoarseness
  6. facial swelling
  7. fever
  8. headache
  9. loss of strength and energy
  10. lower back or side pain
  11. numbness, pain, tingling, or unusual sensations in the palms of the hands or bottoms of the feet
  12. painful or difficult urination
  13. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  14. shortness of breath
  15. sore throat
  16. sores in the mouth and on the lips
  17. unusual bleeding or bruising
  18. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Pain at the injection site
  2. skin rash or itching

Rare

  1. Chest pain
  2. decreased urine output
  3. dilated neck veins
  4. extreme fatigue
  5. irregular breathing
  6. irregular heartbeat
  7. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  8. tightness in the chest
  9. weight gain
  10. yellowing of the eyes and skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Creamy white, curd-like patches in mouth or throat
  2. diarrhea
  3. loss of appetite
  4. nausea
  5. pain when eating or swallowing
  6. sore throat
  7. swallowing problems
  8. vomiting

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. back pain
  3. bad, unusual, or unpleasant aftertaste
  4. burning, dry, or itching eyes
  5. change in skin color
  6. constipation
  7. dizziness
  8. excessive tearing
  9. itching
  10. joint pain
  11. muscle aches
  12. redness, pain, or swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
  13. trouble sleeping

Rare

  1. Abnormal thinking
  2. change in sense of smell
  3. chills
  4. clumsiness, unsteadiness, trembling, or problems with muscle coordination
  5. cough
  6. fever
  7. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  8. shivering
  9. sweating
