Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Abdominal pain or tenderness
  2. agitation
  3. back pain
  4. black, tarry stools
  5. blisters on the skin
  6. bloody urine
  7. blurred vision
  8. chest pain
  9. chills
  10. clay-colored stools
  11. confusion
  12. cough
  13. dark urine
  14. decreased appetite
  15. decreased urine output
  16. difficulty swallowing
  17. dilated neck veins
  18. dizziness
  19. drowsiness
  20. dry mouth
  21. fainting or light-headedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position suddenly
  22. fast heartbeat
  23. fatigue
  24. fever
  25. flushed, dry skin
  26. fruit-like breath odor
  27. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  28. hallucinations
  29. headache, sudden and severe
  30. hives
  31. inability to speak
  32. increased blood pressure
  33. increased hunger
  34. increased thirst
  35. increased urination
  36. irregular breathing
  37. irregular heartbeat
  38. itching
  39. loss of consciousness
  40. lower back or side pain
  41. mood or mental changes
  42. nausea and vomiting
  43. painful or difficult urination
  44. pains in the chest, groin, or legs, especially the calves of legs
  45. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips or tongue
  46. red, thickened, or scaly skin
  47. seizures
  48. shortness of breath
  49. skin rash
  50. slurred speech
  51. sore throat
  52. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  53. stiff neck
  54. stomachache
  55. sudden loss of coordination
  56. sweating
  57. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  58. swollen and/or painful glands
  59. temporary blindness
  60. tightness in the chest
  61. unexplained weight loss
  62. unusual bleeding or bruising
  63. vision changes
  64. weakness in the arm and/or leg on one side of the body, sudden and severe
  65. wheezing
  66. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  2. inability to have or keep an erection
  3. increase in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  4. increased interest in sexual intercourse
  5. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  6. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  7. unexpected or excess milk flow from breasts

Less common

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, or discoloration of the skin
  2. change in walking and balance
  3. clumsiness or unsteadiness
  4. hair loss
  5. inability to move legs or arms
  6. increased sensitivity of skin to sunlight
  7. increase in bowel movements
  8. loose stools
  9. loss of strength or energy
  10. muscle pain or weakness
  11. paralysis of one side of the body
  12. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  13. severe sunburn
  14. soft stools
  15. tiredness or weakness
  16. unusual increase in hair growth
  17. weight gain
