Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Dizziness or lightheadedness

Less common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. confusion
  3. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position
  4. fainting (sudden)
  5. fast and pounding heartbeat
  6. irregular heartbeat
  7. shortness of breath
  8. sweating
  9. swelling of feet or lower legs

Rare

  1. Painful or prolonged erection of the penis (called priapism), although extremely rare, must have immediate medical attention. If painful or prolonged erection occurs, call your doctor or go to an emergency room as soon as possible

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. area rash
  3. black, tarry stools
  4. bleeding gums
  5. blood in urine or stools
  6. chest pain or discomfort
  7. chills
  8. clay-colored stools
  9. cough
  10. dark urine
  11. diarrhea
  12. difficulty breathing
  13. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  14. fever
  15. general tiredness and weakness
  16. headache, sudden and severe
  17. inability to speak
  18. itching
  19. lab results that show problems with liver
  20. light-colored stools
  21. loss of appetite
  22. noisy breathing
  23. pain or discomfort in arms, jaw, back or neck
  24. pinpoint red or purple spots on skin
  25. rash
  26. seizures
  27. slow or irregular heartbeat
  28. slurred speech
  29. sore throat
  30. sores, ulcers, or white spots on lips or in mouth
  31. swollen glands
  32. temporary blindness
  33. tightness in chest
  34. unpleasant breath odor
  35. unusual bleeding or bruising
  36. upper right abdominal pain
  37. vomiting
  38. vomiting of blood
  39. weakness in arm and/or leg on one side of the body, sudden and severe
  40. wheezing
  41. yellow eyes and skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Headache
  2. lack or loss of strength
  3. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. back pain
  3. belching
  4. bladder pain
  5. cloudy urine
  6. difficulty in moving
  7. frequent urge to urinate
  8. heartburn
  9. indigestion
  10. joint pain
  11. lower back or side pain
  12. muscle aching, cramping, or weakness
  13. muscle pains or stiffness
  14. nausea
  15. nervousness, restlessness, unusual irritability
  16. runny nose
  17. sleepiness or drowsiness
  18. sneezing
  19. sore throat
  20. stomach discomfort, upset or pain
  21. swollen joints

Incidence not known

  1. Anxiety
  2. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, “pins and needles”, or tingling feeling
  3. change in frequency or urination
  4. dry mouth
  5. feeling of warmth
  6. frequent urination
  7. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  8. hair loss
  9. hives or welts
  10. hyperventilation
  11. increased urge to urinate during the night
  12. increased volume of pale dilute urine
  13. loss of appetite
  14. painful urination
  15. redness of skin
  16. redness of the face, neck, arms and occasionally upper chest
  17. shaking
  18. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  19. thinning of hair
  20. trouble in holding or releasing urine
  21. trouble sleeping
  22. waking to urinate at night
  23. weight loss
