Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. chest pain or discomfort
  3. confusion
  4. coughing
  5. dizziness
  6. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting suddenly up from a lying or sitting position
  7. headache
  8. irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  9. nervousness
  10. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  11. pounding in the ears
  12. slow or fast heartbeat
  13. sweating
  14. trouble breathing
  15. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. bloody urine
  3. coughing that sometimes produces a pink frothy sputum
  4. coughing up blood
  5. drowsiness
  6. dry mouth
  7. extremely high fever or body temperature
  8. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  9. fever
  10. flushed, dry skin
  11. fruit-like breath odor
  12. increased hunger
  13. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  14. increased thirst
  15. increased urination
  16. loss of appetite
  17. lower back or side pain
  18. mood or mental changes
  19. muscle cramps in the hands, arms, feet, legs, or face
  20. muscle spasms or twitching seizures
  21. nausea
  22. nosebleeds
  23. numbness and tingling around the mouth, fingertips, or feet
  24. pale, clammy skin
  25. paralysis
  26. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  27. red or black, tarry stools
  28. red or dark brown urine
  29. seizures
  30. stomach cramps
  31. swelling of face, fingers, legs, or ankles
  32. tremor
  33. unexplained weight gain or loss
  34. vomiting

Incidence not known

  1. Chest tightness
  2. confusion as to time, place, or person
  3. frequent urination
  4. holding false beliefs that cannot be changed by fact
  5. increased volume of pale, dilute urine
  6. irritability
  7. no blood pressure
  8. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  9. restlessness
  10. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  11. shakiness
  12. sleepiness
  13. slow to respond
  14. slurred speech
  15. stomach pain
  16. stopping of the heart
  17. unconsciousness
  18. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness
  19. weakness or heaviness of the legs
  20. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Anxiety
  2. constipation
  3. shaking

Incidence not known

  1. Hives, itching, rash
  2. redness of the skin
  3. seeing flashes or sparks of light
