Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare

  1. Agitation
  2. bluish lips or skin
  3. blurred vision
  4. chest pain or discomfort
  5. confusion
  6. dark urine
  7. discouragement
  8. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  9. extremely shallow or slow breathing
  10. false beliefs that cannot be changed by facts
  11. fast heartbeat
  12. feeling sad or empty
  13. fever
  14. hives, itching, skin rash
  15. hoarseness
  16. increase in body movements
  17. irritability
  18. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  19. lack of appetite
  20. large, hive-like swelling on face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  21. light-colored stools
  22. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  23. loss of interest or pleasure
  24. mood or other mental changes
  25. nausea
  26. not breathing
  27. poor insight and judgment
  28. problems with memory or speech
  29. redness of the skin
  30. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  31. shakiness and unsteady walk
  32. slow or irregular heartbeat
  33. stomach pain or bloating
  34. sweating
  35. swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, hands, or feet
  36. tightness in the chest
  37. trouble concentrating
  38. trouble recognizing objects
  39. trouble sleeping
  40. trouble thinking and planning
  41. trouble walking
  42. troubled breathing or swallowing
  43. unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
  44. unusual tiredness or weakness
  45. vomiting
  46. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Blurred vision
  2. chills
  3. cold, clammy skin
  4. confusion
  5. cool hands and feet
  6. decrease in the amount of urine
  7. difficult or troubled breathing
  8. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  9. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  10. irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  11. irritability
  12. loss of consciousness
  13. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  14. poor judgment
  15. shivering
  16. slurred speech
  17. sweating
  18. trouble in walking
  19. trouble sleeping
  20. uncontrolled eye movements

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Sleepiness or unusual drowsiness

Rare

  1. Constipation
  2. headache
  3. nervousness
  4. nightmares

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
